I have said many times that I am tired of superhero films. Orlando knows at this point that if he wants to watch one, he'll likely have to watch it alone. When a female superhero instantly starts getting attacked before the film comes out and receiving unnecessary hate by loser misogynists then I WILL watch the hell out of that movie. Supergirl is not a perfect film by any means. One of the main complaints I've been seeing is that the villain, Krem (Matthias Schoenarts), is mid. To that I say, he's despicable enough being a human trafficking, child rapist who I wanted dead and I didn't need him to have Thanos levels of power to complete the job.
I had fun watching this film. Milly Alcock gives Kara Zor-El a vulnerability and edge that counteracts her cousin Clark (David Corenswet) perfectly. I wish some of the fights were longer, but there were fun moments there, too.
My biggest complaint comes in the form of Jason Momoa's Lobo. He was completely pointless and added nothing to the story other than offering fan service to the losers who need a man in their superhero film in order to be able to watch it.
Last year's Superman ended up actually being a really good film, but I do find it odd that that film had more of Krypto than this one did. Krypto is how Orlando got me to watch Superman and considering a main plot point is that Kara has 72 hours to save Krypto, I was expecting more of him. Anyway, I still think it's a solid film. Not great by any means but not worthy of all the unnecessary hate it is receiving.
