I Am Frankelda (2026)

I Am Frankelda is Mexico's first stop motion film. The film is produced by Guillermo del Toro so you know this is going to be gothic and creepy and everything that del Toro admires.

Francisca Imelda (Mireya Mendoza) is a 19th century writer in Mexico who writes fantastical, gothic tales to cope with her less than happy life. Unknowingly, what she writes ends up affecting the world of nightmares and the life of the prince Herneval (Arturo Mercado Jr.).

The sets and puppets are gruesomely detailed. It is a fun story though it does have an abrupt ending.

Feminists: What Were They Thinking? (2018)

In the 1970s, photographer Cynthia MacAdams photographed a lot of women who led the feminist revolution of the time.

The 2018 documentary "Feminists: What were They Thinking?" looks back at some of those women. They and a select few of a new generation of feminists were interviewed in order to get their thoughts on the photographs and the feminist movement.

I really enjoyed the film and the interviews though I do wish more Black feminists were featured.
